Victoria Island –Snake Island –Tunnel Rail Road Project (VSTR) Overview

A project whose road alignment proceeds from Badagry – Lagos approaches turns off right at the former Trade Fair Complex roundabout through Abule Osun road into Snake Island. This would be facilitated by the aid of a 3 – kilometers 3 – lanes double flow bridge. The exit point would take off east of Snake Island at CIE projects boundary with Niger Dock shipyard. Thereafter, it would crosses/traverses multiple Island within the Ogogoro Island complex and crosses the strategic Commodore Channel, to exit into Ahmadu Bello Way in Victoria Island. From Ahmadu Bello way the VSTR extension proceeds to join Lekki Free Trade Zone through the proposed Lagos Coastal Road.

VSTR would be providing direct tunnel – rail/road linkage of the east and west metropolis of Lagos currently separated by the strategic commodore channel, a channel whose shipping’s account for about 85% of Nigeria’s international sea borne trade apart from trade in oil and gas.
