Eko Sports Island (ESI) Overview

Brief on Eko Sports Island (ESI) Project

ESI Project aims to transform Ikeregbe Island situated west of Snake Island into National Africa’s ‘centre of Excellence for sporting, leisure and recreation activities. The location of the Island situated North of the thong of land between Badagry Creek and the Atlantic ocean (a long beach land stretching from west mola of Lagos channel entrance to Badagry (renowned for its recreational endowment) is very apt for this character of project.

ESI project will provide necessary infrastructure to facilitate and promote the development of major Olympic and non – Olympic sports including yachting and other related water sports, horse racing, polo, golf, Rugby cricket etc. Traditional African sports will also feature. ESI will be design to host trade fairs of universal or of particular character including global celebrated tournament in Tennis, Cycling, motor racing etc.

Interestingly, ESI will be design to accommodate an African cultural village where plots of land would be allocated to key African tribes (Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Fulani Swahili etc) to showcase and propagate salient values of their respective cultural heritage in dressing, music dancing etc. The activities of this cultural village would be on hand to grace the fairs that would be hosted at ESI from time to time. Fashion fairs of both national and International character would periodically feature at ESI.
